Buy Quality Books for Your Children Without Sourcing for Them

I chanced upon a sponsored post on Facebook a few months back and it brought me to a whole new world of subscriptions for children. Josh and Cherie Books provide book and play subscription for children age 0 to 7 years old. While their monthly book subscription caters for that age range, their play subscription are only for children aged 2-7 years old and are bi-monthly subscriptions instead of monthly ones.
Being that Noah was barely 6 months old when I got to know of Josh and Cherie, I decided on a 6 month book subscription. Their deliveries are scheduled for the end of the month and if you order past the 15th of that month, which I did, you would only get your first box the end of the following month. So started the long wait and I was really excited when I received the courier's text today that Noah's first box will finally arrive!
So here it is!

As mentioned on their website, children aged 0-30 months old get 3 board books that have really loud colors and are interactive. Noah got the following three titles and loves "Peek-a-Boo Farm" and "A Busy Day for Bee!" best.

Here's a chart put together by Josh and Cherie that clearly and easily explains how they select books for their little customers of different age groups.
Josh and Cherie also mentioned that the retail value of all 3 books in the box always exceeds the subscription price their customers pay. As I mentioned above, I subscribed for 6 months and that comes up to $197.40 inclusive of shipping. Their shipping is $6 per month so for 6 months, that'd be $36. There was a discount code of $5 during the time I purchased the subscription so that made my total payable $192.40. Divide that by 6 months and you'll get $32.07 per box and $10.69 per board book. Now being the kiasu Singaporean aunty that I am, I went and did a little research on the retail prices of these books on Amazon SG and Book Depository. While Amazon SG did not have the Little Faces series book included in Josh and Cherie's box, this was the total I'd had to pay if I were to purchase the exact same board books from Book Depository:

As you can see, it seems that I could have gotten these books cheaper on Book Depository IF I actually knew about them. I have not seen any of these titles before, unlike the better known ones like "The Hungry Caterpillar" or "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?". Being a working mother with a full-time job, I hardly have the time to scout for good books, let alone ones that are as interactive as the ones that Josh and Cherie has provided. And to be fair, this is only the first box we have received so far. Perhaps the value of books to come really are higher in retail value than the subscription paid. So for an additional $3.05 (Josh and Cherie vs. Book Depository), I would have to say Josh and Cherie's book subscription is still a fantastic way to ensure that you are able to purchase good, age-appropriate books for your child without having to spend hours on end scrolling multiple websites for good books.

Will definitely consider extending Noah’s book subscription and I can't wait till he's 2 years old so I can try out their Josh and Cherie play subscription next!
